Habdash Reveal: Indigo

All our blog post's have been running a little late the last couple of month's! It's been a crazy busy November and December and I'm very much looking forward to putting my feet up for a few days!

This month's box has landed on people's doormats (quite literally now, with our new slimmer boxes) and I'm loving your comments and pictures!

I found some beautiful fabric from Art Gallery  that I just had to build a box around! It's from the Observer range by April Rhodes for Art Gallery and is a beautiful indigo Shibori style print.
Blue, especially deep blue, is one of my favourite colours and so I couldn't wait to get started on this box.

I was spoilt for choice with trim choices so there was an extra one in the box this month. There is a beautifully soft Navy Tulle, a petrol blue cotton lace, a deep blue floral hessian and a little bit of sparkle too.

Felt shades this month are Teal, Marl Jade, Turquoise, Marl Turquoise, White, Royal Blue and two lots of Navy.

The blue coconut shell buttons add a lovely muted vintage feel.

Lucky Dip Sale Boxes are now live, these are £10 plus postage and will contain a random selection of felt, fabric and trims and buttons. Some from previous boxes where i've had extras. These will be in our original larger box and you can expect them to be jammed packed with goodies. Keep an eye on our instagram feed for more information!

There is also up to 30% off selected Habdash Boxes and other items in our Not on the Highstreet shop too!

New subs for January will be on sale on 1st Jan. January's box is 'Make me a Mix Tape'...sneaky peeks will be revealed soon!
If you want to be first in line to grab a subscription, sign up to our newsletter. There will be a very limited number up for grabs next month due to the volume of gift subscriptions purchased in December but I will try to make as many as possible available,

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Habdash Reveal: Christmas is Coming!...

It's been hectic, so i'm a little late with the blog this month!
November's box was our second christmassy instalment and was packed full of traditional reds, snowmen, candy stripes and bells.

My absolute favourite part of this month's box was the buttons (and Bell) selection. It really got me in the festive spirit packing them up!

The fabric, a super cute Scandi style snowmen print, is 100% cotton from The Craft Cotton Co.

We've changed the style of our box's this month, going for a slimmer, letterbox friendly box and it's been a hit! All the contents are the same, the only difference is the felt isn't rolled into a little bundle. This allows us to get all the fab contents into a smaller box and also bring the cost down. The postage cost has gone from 'Small Parcel' to Large Letter' so we've knocked the difference of the cost of the monthly subscription.

Next month's box theme is Indigo. A (hopefully) refreshing box full of cool blue hues to kick start your post Xmas crafting projects. Subs on sale now!

Plus don't forget, if you are after a craft Christmas gift then head over and check out our one off boxes or gift subscriptions.

Habdash Reveal: Festivities begin!...

Due to Christmas being the crafting peak of the entire year we decided this time last year that we would devote two month's of Habdash to lovely festive craft supplies! October saw the first instalment for 2016!

We broke from our Habdash tradition slightly this month and gave our subscribers two fat eighths instead of one fat quarter. I had four beautifully coordinating Christmas fabrics and I didn't want to put just one print in each box. Each subscriber got a lucky dip of two of these fab fabrics to play with this month.

The fabric led the way for the colour theme for the whole box which is not completely traditional but definitely gives you a warm, fuzzy christmassy feel.

The felt colours in this month's box were Teal, Charcoal, Cherry, Crimson, White, Dove Grey and a NEW shade, Marl Teal.

I added some lovely East of India double faced Gros Grain stitched ribbon and a fun Festive print. this varied between Santas and Penguins but all were super cute!
Last on the trims front was two metres of my fave....Ric Rac...White and sparkly Silver. I love the retro feel Ric Rac gives and it's one of my simple joys...

The button selection this month was a variety of Christmas Stockings, Trees and Jingle Bells.

If you bagged a box...I hope you like it! Don't forget to share on social media using #myhabdash <3

Next month we are continuing our festive craft extravaganza with a traditional Christmas theme. You can sign up here. Limited number available.

If you are after a cute crafty gift for a friend or rellie then there is 15% off all stand alone boxes, gift subscriptions and felt bundles over on our website
Just use code HOHOHO at the checkout. Ends 31st October at midnight.

Habdash Reveal: Woodland

Autumn is here and we've gone all out to give you a beautiful autumnal themed Habdash Box this month. Packed full of rich brown and green shades it's sure to get you in the mood for the season ahead!

September always sees a shift in inspiration for me, back to school, dewy mornings and the smell of woodsmoke creeping in to the evenings and early mornings. Autumn is my favourite time of year and green is my favourite colour, this box was a real joy to put together.

I turned once again to the 'Hello Bear' range of fabrics by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery. I've used prints from this popular range before and it was my first port of call for this box.
The felt colours were chosen around the fabric, mossy greens, sables and terracottas.

The trims were harder this month. I wanted a little bit of luxury, so in the end I settled for a faux silk and velvet. These were quite deep colours so to tie in the lighter shade of green from the fabric I also choose a linen with a mint green edge. I picked up the foxy terracotta brown shade with some lovely fine jute twine.

The buttons are my favourite bit of this box, a cute fox, and wooden leaves and apples...and to add a little extra some basic spots and stripes.

Our next two boxes will be focusing on Christmas, with two very festive different themes coming up.  ..it may seem early but the next box is dispatched on 20th October and we all know Christmas is the busiest time of year for crafting! New boxes and subs will be available from 1st October.

You can purchase one off boxes or subscriptions as a gift. If you buy a subscription gift, you can have the first box delivered to you and the option of delaying the rest of the subscription until after Christmas. We can also add a gift message for you!

Habdash Reveal: Pandalicious

August is almost over and it's been even more hectic than normal for us. The school holidays brings a marathon of juggling unlike any other time of the year and I am counting the days to a return to our normal levels of craziness!
The theme for this months Habdash was the first time we've gone for a character based theme.
I found some amazing Panda Buttons and it was fate that Art Gallery Fabrics bought out a Panda themed fabric range that was released at the end of July. Serendipity. It was all falling into place nicely!
It's definitely full on Kawaii fun before we head into the cosy colours and themes of Autumn and Christmas in the coming months.

So...it all started with the buttons, and the fabric. The release of the Pandalicious range from Art Gallery Fabrics was PERFECT. The hardest part is often finding a fabric to fit in with the themes I have floating around in my head. The fabric is usually the last piece to fall into place, it's great when it works the other way around sometimes.

I chose some bold Chevron and Heart trims alongside a more dainty fuchsia pink embroidered Ric Rac.

This months felt selection included, Charcoal, Black, White, Marl Grey, Dove Grey, Fuchsia and Pale Pink. All wrapped up with the same super cute black heart ribbon.
If you love these colours, all felt is also available via our website.

Coming up over the next three months we are switching over to autumnal and festive colour palettes. September's Box has a Woodland theme and you will be spoilt with festive lovliness in October and November, it couldn't be a better time to sign up!

Don't forget you save 5% with a six month sub and 10% on a twelve month sub.

We also do gift subscriptions and one off boxes if you are looking for that perfect crafty christmas gift!

You can also find us on Not on the Highstreet.

Habdash Reveal: Brighton Rock

The timing of this month's box could not have been better!
I delivered a super bright, seaside themed box right in the middle of a heatwave here in the UK!
I'm runnng a little late with the blog this month as the summer holidays have now started here for us and it's been a chaotic week of last days at school and getting organised now for September so i don't rush around at the last minute!
July's box was Brighton Rock, literally taking rock sweet rainbow colours as my inspiration, this box is everything seaside to me. Living just down the road from Brighton myself I had to call it#brightonrock.

The starting point for this box was the buttons. I couldn't resist them a few month's ago and they are where the idea began. I loved the mix of colours and they immediately reminded me of sticks of rock candy. I then found this fab fabric from the Boardwalk Delight range from Art Gallery Fabrics which was released in the UK this month. I'd had it on pre-order since April and was so pleased when it finally arrived!

This month's felt colours were Mint, Baby Pink, Lilac, White, Orange, Fuchsia, Red and Lemon. Perfect Rock colours!

I love orange and turquoise together, so my ribbon choice was based on this. Polkadots were a must, as were deckchair stripes. The Beach hut ribbon adds a great English seaside touch.

I've already seen some fab unboxing pics and comments! If you are a Habdasher then don't forget to share your boxes and your makes using #myhabdash.
Next month's subs are available now and the theme is Pandalicious! It's gonna be super cute! Kep an eye on our Instagram feed for sneaky peeks!
Don't forget we offer discounts when you sign up to a six or twelve month sub.
Sign up for six months now and you'll also get our fab Woodland box in September, two instalments of Christmassy goodness and your subscription will take you right through to January and beat those post crimbo blues!

Happy Making!

Maker's are Gonna Make...Habdash Reveal!

Wow wee…June sure came around fast and it’s been slightly crazy here at Pocket and Pin HQ. On top of our usual subscription box quota we had a bespoke order of 50 Bee Happy Boxes (see last month’s blog post) to prepare. Do get in touch if you are after something special for a club, party, event…we’d love to work with you!

This month in honour of The Great British Sewing Bee, I decided to go for a Sewing themed box. Scissor print fabric, Tape Measure ribbon, Sewing Machine Buttons….Judging by the amount of you who signed up this month it’s been a hit!
Our chosen fabric this month is from the ‘Maker’ range from Art Gallery Fabrics. A very lovely Black/Cream Scissor print cotton. Art Gallery fabrics are 100% premium cotton, they are lovely and soft. They often feature in our boxes as they are such fabulous quality.

The rest of the colour palette for this box was built around this and the Tape Measure Ribbon. Very classic with a little vintage utility feel about it. Black, Grey, Natural shades with a hint of Marled Turquoise to lift it all slightly.
The Felt bundle contained. Fawn, Light Stone, Marl Fawn, cream, Grey, Charcoal, White and Marl Turquoise.

I used a classic East of India ‘Thin Stitch’ grosgrain ribbon in Charcoal Grey to tie in the felt colours and some pretty grey cotton lace to soften everything slightly. It couldn’t be a sewing themed box without a bit of ‘Great British Stitcher’ Ribbon too!
I found some fabulous wooden vintage Singer style sewing machine buttons and some little scissor and cotton reel buttons too. Perfect!
The little heart buttons were an exact match for the colour theme of the box and complimented the button selection brilliantly.

Last month’s subscription box, the ‘Bee Happy’ Habdash Box is now available on our website. Only until my current stock sells through. After this its unlikely I will be able to repeat it.
This would be a lovely gift for a creative teacher! My kiddos teacher loves to sew so I will be putting together a special box for her this year!
If you are looking for something different to give, whether it be a thank you gift, a birthday gift, or dare I say it….Christmas! Then any of our boxes would be perfect for any sewer or crafter. You can find one off boxes on our website and via Not on the Highstreet.
July’s Boxes will be on sale soon, look out for sneaky peeks of our ‘Brighton Rock’ themed ‘Seaside’ box!...

Don't Worry, Bee Happy!...Habdash Reveal

May is now upon us and we finally have some sunshine! Hurrah!
This month's box is a truly happy one, filled with sunshine, so it couldn't be more fitting!
(for us Brits anyway!)
I decided to base this month's box around the humble Bee. I love Bees and everyone should as they are quite frankly, the most helpful, amazing little creatures.

The only Bee themed haberdashery item I had found when I made this decision a couple of month's ago was the super lovely Bee buttons, so I had a bit of a task ahead of me!
However I needn't have worried because fabric and ribbon designers also seem to share my love for Bees!
I found a lovely natural cotton Bee printed ribbon from May Arts, that has a lovely vintage feel and a pretty Bee and Ditsy Floral fabric from the Art Gallery Millie Fleur range. My Bumblebee elements were complete. All I need to find now were some complimentary buttons, ribbons and felt.

The yellow and white embroidered trim has a pretty scalloped edge and was a perfect fit for this box. As the first two trims I chose were fairly busy I went for a plain natural ribbon by Berties Bows for my final choice. This fits with this month's thread colour perfectly too.

The felt shades in this month's box were Mustard, Baby Pink, White, Cream, Primary Yellow, Candy Pink, Meadow Green and Lemon. All felt shades are available to purchase by the sheet via our felt shop if you'd like them. I love these colours together, they remind me of spring gardens!

We have decided to make this popular box a permanent fixture on our website, look out for it very soon. It would make a lovely gift for a craft and nature loving friend or family member!

Our craft shop as you have come to know it closes it's virtual doors this week. From Monday 23rd we will be focusing on Habdash subscriptions and gift boxes.
However our felt shop will remain open so you can still get our lovely soft 30% wool felt bundles and sheets!
We are incredibly excited about this chapter in our Pocket and Pin journey and can't wait to get started!

Next month's subscription theme is, in honour of the Great British Sewing Bee, a celebration of making! Check out our Instagram feed for a sneak peek or two over the next couple of weeks!

If you'd like to check out our gift boxes then pop over to our website or over to notonthehighstreet.com
More stockists coming soon!

Habdash Reveal - The Lilac and Lavender Box

This month's Habdash Box began in a slightly different way. Back in February I ran a competition on Instagram to celebrate Habdash's first birthday. The prize was a three month subscription plus the opportunity to chose the theme for April's Box.
Victoria from Butterfly Crafts was our winner and her chosen theme was Lilac and Lavender.

I couldn't be happier with the chosen theme, There are so many beautiful shades of purple and lilac it really was a joy to put this one together.
The shades of felt this month were Grape, Marl Heather, Cadbury, Cream, Marl Fawn, Raspberry, Light Stone and Lilac. The Marled shades give a softness to the usual solid colour blocking of felt.

This month's trims included an unusual woven chenille trim, cream crochet lace and a lilac stitched grosgrain ribbon. The buttons were a mixture of lilac and white mother of pearl hearts and simple wooden and lilac polkadots. I chose a variegated thread that bought out the pinky shade in the felt.

This month's fabric is from the Ombre Trends range by Heather Jacks for The Craft Cotton Company. It is 100% cotton, and beautifully soft and light weight.

If you follow us on social media you will know that our clearance sale of our craft shop has now gone to 50% off to clear the remainder of our shop stock. There's still some great bargains to be had, so be sure to check it out before its all gone!
Next month's Habdash theme is 'Bee Happy'. In tribute to the humble Bee, we have begun putting together a fun box of Bee themed goodies for you. Monthly subscriptions are available now and discounts are available when you sign up for a six or twelve month subscription up front.

Don't forget to share your creations! We love to see what you make with our Habdash Boxes!

Habdash Reveal - The Coastal Box

We delved into cool blue hues this month with our Coastal themed box. These colours are easily among my favourites, I adore cool and calming shades!

This colourway really showcases the marly felt shades we have in our collection which really soften the usual colour blocking of our felt bundles. This month's felt colours are Navy, Grey, Dove, Marl Grey, Teal, White, Turquoise and Marl Turquoise. Our die hard fans will be pleased to know that we will be continuing to stock all felt shades despite closing the majority of our craft shop. Our felt bundles are incredibly popular and have become a bit of a trademark for Pocket and Pin!

This month's fabric choice was from the 'Coastline' Range from Art Gallery. I definitely cut things a bit fine this month as this only arrived a week before dispatch due to delays with my supplier. It was worth the wait though and fits perfectly with the theme!

I could not resist the sparkly Seashell buttons when i found them, despite being the smallest component of the box they were definitely by biggest luxury this month but worth every penny!

All new subscribers last month got a free pair of polkadot embroidery scissors as a thank you for signing up, we've decided to extend the offer to this month too! Hurrah!

If you didn't already know we are having a MASSIVE clear out sale over in our craft shop! Almost everything is 40% off, so go grab a bargain quick!!
I am really enjoying putting more of my time into our Habdash Boxes now i am winding down our craft shop, it's been great to get much more organised and make plans for the rest of this years boxes and new lines for Not on the High Street
Next month's theme is 'Lilac and Lavender' as chosen by our competition winner back in February. If you want to join in you can sign up here. It's coming together nicely, you can see a few sneeky peek pics over on our Instagram account!

Happy Crafting!
